Gordon Walter Art

 This week we did digital Gordon Walter art this one of his pieces of art.

I Thought it would super hard to do until I actually started working on it was actually pretty fun and easy I started doing one then I hated it deleted it  and started again this is my finished product I love it. Some are getting sold at the craft fair.

Calendar art

For our calendar art this year  we chose a photo of Wainui Beach and made a polyline version. This was the photo I chose.

It was really hard at first but eventually I got the hang of it. I think it turned out amazing. 

We are selling the best ones at the craft fair stall I hope mine gets sold.

My Farm Tasks

 This week MLH had six tasks to do about the farm instead of our normal priorities. I designed a logo for Pihitia Station, designed a farm, wrote a piece of information about drones and lots more about the farm my favorite task I completed is a farm I designed.

This week we also had cross country. I was so nervous that I was going to come last. When my race started I was coming sixth, when my race finished I came fifth... to last.

Pihitia Station

This week on Tuesday Wainui Beach School went to Pihitia Station.  Before we left, the teachers reminded us that the people working at the farm had taken time off work that day and that we had to show the school values of respect, responsibility and resilience.

When the bus arrived MLH climbed on the bus. When we arrived at Pihitia Station Toby Williams (the owner) told us what we would do in the event of an Earthquake or Tsunami.

Moana Syndicate split into four groups. The group that I was in was going to see a cow getting milked, we learnt lot's about all the food that comes from dairy cows. Then we saw a butcher chopping up a lamb, Toby said we were allowed to go outside if we didn't want to watch, I went outside and talked to Charlotte M, Cornelia and Esther. 

The third thing we saw was some machines they use on a farm like tractors, motorbikes and drones. We watched from the drone's camera as the drone flew through the air. We spotted legs sticking out of the bottom of a four-wheel tractor. Some people thought the person was hurt but then the man who was telling us about the drone said it was a joke they'd set up to trick us. After that we saw two sheepdogs chasing sheep and lambs and we learnt about the sheepdogs and Before lunch, we saw two sheep get shorn and we learnt a lot about wool and the benefits of different kinds of sheep's wool. Then we learnt about native birds and ferrets. Then we had lunch and drove back to school.

Automata toys

This week Koka Jo and Koka Claire were in MLH and we made Automata toys. Last week we filled in planning sheets in teams of two and three I was in a team with Esther and Josephine.

When we we started making our Automata toys it was my job to make the cams, Esther's job to make the frame and Josephine's job to make the handle. We all started doing what we were supposed to do. Once I had traced the shape of the two cams I cut them out and stuck a skewer in one of the cams. I put the cam in the finished frame that Esther had all ready made. Once the skewer was secure Josie glued the handle on the Automata. 

When everything was secure we put the follower on the toy and stuck the follower on the Automata. We also stuck two pieces of paper that had the Earth on it together and stuffed more paper in it and used that for the toy on the top of our automata. We thought we were finished but Koka Jo tolds us to paint it so we painted it black.

Term 3 Week 5

This week was pretty normal we had to finish normal priorities, but we only had three days to finish them. Because on wednesday we found out that we were spending to wednesdays (including that wednesday) automata toys.

 The teachers explained that we needed to get into groups of two or three and needed to fill out a plan of what our toy needed to look like. After morning tea we got into groups I got into a pair with Josephine. We didn't get the get the plan finished but that's ok we have until Monday to finish it.

LTP

 At the start of week three Moana Syndicate started LTP which stands for Learning through play. This week me and my made a water park/playground at Junky Monkey. There are four options of what to do at learning through play there's Junky Monkey, Makey Makey, cardboard nation and planet construction. I normally go to Junky Monkey.

Inter school netball

Last term I signed up to do interschool netball, the netball team has been practising everyday. 

When I got to school on friday everyone was excited about the netball game. At twelve thirty we got into our netball uniform and met Koka Leah and our coach Janine (Charlotte's mum) on the netball court and drove to Awapuni School. When we got to Awapuni we met the ref and got into our positions, I was off for the first two quarters. 

Awapuni started with the ball, the ball jumped from one end of the court to the other. I cheered as loud as I could, I was having so much fun and I hadn't started playing yet, finally the first goal had been scored a couple goals were scored. The second quarter was really fast, a few more goals were scored for Awapuni and Wainui.

At half time I got into a bib I was D. When the game restarted Awapuni had the ball, in no time at all I was defending an Awapuni attack from getting the ball into the goal, but she scored. Wainui started with the ball and scored a goal, next Awapuni scored two more goals and Wainui scored one goal. And that was the end of the game. The final score was 11 to 6 Awapuni.

The holidays

During the holidays my family drove to Raglan and stayed at a small bach. Me and my family walked down the hill to Raglan town everyday we also visited my dads old school friend at his house his daughter walked me and my sister to see their two goats called Snowy and Trixie, both the goats chased us out of their paddock. 

Then we drove to Rotorua and had lunch at a place called the Fatdog. After lunch we went to the pools and bought ice creams. After we had been at the pool and we also went to the Rotorua Skyline and went in the gondola and drove the luge down the hill then we went back down the gondola. We drove to Lake Rotoiti. The next day me, Nellie and our mum went kayaking in the lake then we jumped off a jetty. 

When we got back to Gisborne me and Nellie had a sleepover at our grandparents house. After dinner we watched Stuart Little after we'd finished the movie me and Nellie listened to an audiobook and went to bed.

Just Dance performance

Hi, this was the last week of school for term two and I can’t wait to see what term three is like. It was a great week but we have to do a just dance performance in front of the whole class. Some people did there dance yesterday but my group is doing our dance today, my group is doing a three person dance called handclap. But i’m really nervous because one of the people in my just dance group were away yesterday so we haven’t done any practises as a group, it was just me and Ester practising but our dance is actually pretty good.(If you don't know what Just Dance is read my other blog called Just Dance.)

Some people that are doing different songs have really good costumes like someone people that have to dress up as a panda wore fake panda heads for their costumes. My costume is just plain black pants and a t shirt. I want our dance to go first so it can be over and done with.

I don't know why I didn't just choose to do another Just Dance song because in my opinion Handclap is the hardest (all the ones you could chose to do Handclap, timber or Waka waka.)

Just dance

This term MLH started doing Just Dance which is this cool game when we have to choose a person on the screen and copy that person , we have to be in groups of four, two and one. The teachers don't have the just dance app so they choose the ones we do on youtube.

My favourite just dance song is Jailhouse rock because in my opinion it has the best dance moves, My second favorite one  is waka waka because it is hard and challenges me, but I don't really like the dance moves. But my least favourite one is called Rasputin because the dance is really fast and I don't like fast dances because it feels like my head is spinning.

Just Dance is fun because you can try something new and there are so many different song options for you to try. Just dance is so fun.

MLH Learning from home

On wednesday the 25th of march 2020. New Zealand went into lockdown and we came

out of lockdown on the 18th of may. We had to social distance. Nobody could go to school so we did

all our work at home and communicated by joining google meets and we did all our learning on the

computer.

The first theme was Anzac week and we had all these different activities to finish in one week. My favourite theme was Animal Kingdom when we chose an animal group to be in. I was in big cats. We learnt a lot about animals. My least favourite one was World famous because I didn’t  like the person I did.

The last one we did before we came back to school was Storytime,  but we also had to do eako and steps everyday.  I normally got most of my activities done. Every Friday was fancy Friday and on Fridays Meets we had to dress up as one of our favourite people. I didn't look at all like Billie Eilish.

I was scared about lockdown at first because I missed my friends but it was actually pretty fun. But I was happy to come back to school and see my friends. I can't believe that we were in lockdown for three months. I loved learning from home.But I like to see my friends.

When I got back to school it was pretty annoying because I was used to doing everything at my own pace. So I had to adjust to the timetable like when you come back from a long holiday

Swimming Sports

Swimming Sports 

As I walked into enterprise  swimming club I waved to my family I could smell the chlorine. After I got changed we watched some  races, then koka nigare called my name, and lined me up. When I got to the diving block I listened to koka rosie ready set go I dived into the water an swam to the end... I came 3th  in freestyle. 

I sat on the podium and ate food I and waited for my turn to come to swim again. When koka nigare
called my name I lined up I was so nervous. I jumped into the pool and turned around I started the race my goggles broke  water  came rushing into my eyes I couldn't see suddenly I hit the wall... I came last in backstroke.


 As I nervously waited for the teachers to call my name I got Rio to fix my goggles then I got called down to the blocks I dived in and started to glide along the surface I started to do the breaststroke kick I nearly broke the surface  3 times I came... 3th in breaststroke and that was my last race. 

Back to School

Back to school

To sum it all up  it's been fun meeting new people and being in a class that I've never been in before.

For starters I got to meet my buzz group. We played some group building like over under, relays and stacking cups,we played with balloons.

We drafted five of our goals  for the year and published and colored on good paper. We worked on some art like pop art portraits and waitangi booklets and learnt a bit about waitangi day.

MLH has started practising for swimming sports we have practised all three strokes. I signed up for all three strokes.

We also started quickwrites like  cats vs dogs, unicorns vs dragons, chocolate vs cheese, comment down below which ones you like better.
