Cross Country

 Yesterday on the 15 of September we had cross country. Because of lockdown we couldn't go with the whole school and people couldn't come to watch. 

First the year 5s and 6s went down, then the year 4s went down the year 3s, 2s 1s and o's went down. I was really excited and when I was lining up my stomach was doing summersaults, Koka Sue blew the whistle and I sprinted off, I didn't pace myself very well but I came Sixth.

When we got back everyone got ice creams I didn't get one though. I am very Happy with my result.

Lockdown

Noooo! 

That was my reaction after I learnt all about lockdown 2.0. On tuesday the 17th of august 2021 the whole of New Zealand went into lockdown for the second time. But this week was the first week of learning from home and google meets and no code cracking I went to three meets on monday, (L3 number, MLH Hui and Question time.  

We are also started speeches we have to do them about going for gold. 

I started learning spanish on duolingo all the lockdown work is really fun, I hope we move into level 3 or 2 next week because we can get takeaways in level three. But I also miss going to school. 

Olympics

How much do you know about the Olympics?

Well I do and that's because in MLH we are learning all about the Olympics & the Paralympics.

We have to complete a booklet with things that we learnt we had to choose our favourite NZ Olympic and Paralympic athlete (if you don't know the Paralympics are for people with less able bodies.) When we picked our favourites we drew a picture of them and answered questions like where were they born there past achievements, birthday, Age and sport. I chose Sophie Pascoe (Paralympic swimmer) She has won 15 Paralympic medals. This success has now made Sophie the most decorated New Zealand Paralympian ever! Cool right! And I chose Jonelle price (Olympic Equestrian) she won bronze medal in 2016 in Rio. 

I loved learning about these Olympians & Paralympians and just the Olympics in general.

1. Why did I choose this book? I chose this book because it sounded interesting and it’s about helping a horse that needs help. 

2. If I was a character in the book what would I have done differently? I would have told Essie not to go to the teacher that helped her train Moxie?

3. Where is the book set? It is set in a small street in Pippin.

4. If the book was a TV show, who would I cast in it? Maggie smith for Connie the old lady. Lulu Wilson or Lila Prideaux for the main Character. Michelle Pfeiffer for the mum.

5. If I lived next door to the main character would we be friends? Probably because we both like horses and are around the same age.

6. What does the place look like in my head while I'm reading? I think that they live on a farm when I'm reading.

7. What new facts did I learn? I learnt that the lead mare in herds kick the other horses when they're not doing what the lead mare wants.

8. Why do I think the author wrote the book? I think she wrote the book to teach people about caring for sick or starved horses.

Wednesday after Lunch

 At school a group of people were chatting until on person said three simple words, "Wednesday after lunch." Everyone went crazy with excitement. 

Well we were chatting and this did happen but it was a play. We were waiting for our drama teacher Silke to come. I love drama it's amazing I learn so much from the lesson every Wednesday after lunch, we are doing a play about whales but there is a Hawaiian scene when kids have a surf lesson I'm a child and I'm having a surf lesson with Rio, Charlotte and Te Atawhai are the teachers.

Sadly this week Silke wasn't here, we waited then the teacher remembered she wasn't coming.

Aurora Drama

Last Friday I went to Maraka School for Aurora Drama it was really fun. I got picked to do the drama program with Ella and Klara, we learnt a lot about Whirikoka and his seal Oioi. We got on a bus and went to a pā site in Whatatutu. The owner lived in the place where Whirikoka lived, the owner Marcus lived in the Marae and was rebuilding the pā on a hill to how it looked when the Maori tribe lived there. Marcus let us go in the fire pit and huts he said he had been working on it for six years, he said was going to make a natural swimming pool with a water fall and a slide with a statue of Oioi. I loved it and the food was delicious they made bacon and egg pies and donuts. We're doing a play about Whirikoka. I can't wait till next week.

Drama in Week one

 This week me and two other students got picked to do Aurora, there is reading, writing, maths, Leadership and Drama. I'm really excited because I get to do the drama and we get to go to the lawson field theatre. We get to learn a play called Whirikoka and the seal we go and practice every friday and we perform in week nine or ten and we get to do it with kids from other schools. This week Moana Learning hub also learnt about Kawa of care we got in pairs and made posters about Kawa of care me and Charlotte did ours on staying cybersmart online.
